I took this class because I needed PSYCH10A as a pre req but halfway through the quarter I no longer needed it, but I still stuck around. Point is, even though that class wasn’t needed I still really found the content interesting & was my favorite class this quarter. She is really CLEAR and her lecture slides are always posted. ALTHOUGH, I took notes on a laptop during lecture & then hand wrote them afterwards to understand and go over content, and it really helped a lot. She was very accommodating as her lectures were recorded and posted online so it was very helpful. She seems very passionate about this topic , which is why I think I enjoyed it so much. I wish my major and her classes intersected more because she’s probably my top fav professors. The pace is not too slow nor too fast, and the grade is FAIRLY distributed.

I personally don’t like when grades are literally half midterms & a final. She distributed the grade as follows:
-15% quizzes on bruinlearn (which were fairly easy if you pay attention)
- 6% article analyses
- labs 15% (which were easy & some were in groups)
- mini assignments 3% (again fairly easy and light workload)
- 14%: survey& experimental lab reports:
- 17% midterm
- 30% final
I got basically got majority/full credit on the assignments & quizzes. On the midterm I got an B. Final a B- & was able to finish the course with an A-.

The interesting part of this class was the SONA research credit requirement. You basically participate in UCLA studies and you get credits :) you schedule your studies around your schedule so you do it during your time before the end of the quarter (she gives a specific date)

Sorry for the lengthy review, but I wanted to thoroughly touch on every part of this class. She was a very engaging professor & I really enjoyed her class! Take this class with Professor Ankowski if you can!

The class was relatively easy and stuck to the same routine all quarter, which I liked. I came in which no prior knowledge of Psychology but if you took AP Psych, this class is perfect for you. I enjoyed Ankwoski because attendance was not mandatory, she provided a free pdf textbook which I never read and ALL the tested information is given on the slides. I will say GO TO CLASS! A majority of the content on the midterm and final was based on class lectures, and labs which is why I ended with a B because I never attended lectures and bombed the final. Overall, this class is easy as long as you apply yourself.

I Professor Ankowski is clearly super passionate about what she teaches, which translates to really good lectures. Honestly the worst part of the class was the 8 am lecture, but it was okay. There were iClickers everyday, so lecture attendance was mandatory. The tests were very manageable, and multiple choice. The class was super interesting, and honestly would take again. Highly recommend!

Overall, I really enjoyed this class. I thought that Professor Ankowski did a really great job at presenting the material in a manageable but also engaging way. She is a really good speaker and is very knowledgeable on the topic, which makes the whole lecture flow.

Fairwarning, lectures are 2 hours and she uses the whole 2 hours. All of the lectures are recorded, however, attendance is taken using iclicker.

The course consists of 5 or 6 labs. Some of them are individual, some are group work, so it's nice to establish a consistent group of friends/classmates to work on the labs together with. The labs themselves are pretty straightforward and easy.
I thought that the midterm and final were both also very easy. Both tests had an mcq portion and a short response part. There are a lot of terms to know, so it helps if you’re good at memorizing things. I used quizlet as my main study method. ALSO Prof. Ankowski provides you with the Pysch test bank as a study resource. USE IT. It was so helpful for both the midterm and final. A lot of the question were very similar, so it was a great practice test.

I really enjoyed this class! I took it freshman year, and even though the 8 am was brutal, the prof was super engaging and passionate on the subject. Her lectures were clear and slides were helpful for studying. the Midterm was online open note, and the final was in person closed note. would recommend ankowski!!

Overall, I highly recommend Psych10 for all students, even those who are not considering majoring in psychology/psychobiology. I came into this class having absolutely zero background knowledge about psychology (I did not take AP Psychology in high school), yet I I felt like this class does a great job of easing you into the material. Some of my Psych10 classmates took AP Psychology in high school and said that this class was easily manageable. The material that I learned while taking Psych10 has come up in numerous other classes of mine (in communications, sociology, and linguistic-based classes), so the information you learn will serve you well regardless of if you are a psychology major or not. Professor Ankowski is a very engaging lecturer, and she teaches in an interactive way which definitely helps make the 2-hour lecture go by faster. She posted recordings of each lecture after class. Attendance is taken using iClicker (where you answer live questions based on lecture material that are not graded. The class is composed of one in-person midterm, one in-person final, a few online quizzes every week or so, article analysis projects (where you read a scientific journal and answer questions about the article's main findings), and in-class labs which are widely-applicable and not difficult. Your weekly assignments will definitely help you boost your grade if you do not perform as well on the midterm/final, so definitely make sure you put effort into those. The midterm and final are manageable if you master the material you learn in class - I recommend looking over slideshows and rewatching lectures.

The class was clear and straightforward. Definitely pay attention to the labs because those got brought up a lot during the exams and make sure to work on the practice tests. Overall the professor was very nice and had a lot of energy with it being an 8am lecture.

This class was pretty interesting for an 8am! Professor Ankowski is friendly and clear as she takes you through each little field of psychology. Do know that there are two group studies you must do (correlational and experimental), so make sure your group members are good at communication and getting everything in on time. There's one midterm (in-person, closed notes) and a final. Everything is more or less memorization-based except for the article analyses and the labs. I got an 82.8% on the midterm and a 95 on the final -- grind those test banks that she'll provide you right before the final. The final consists of very specific details from the labs, case studies, and papers that you are required to read, so memorize those stats too. In all, this class didn't take too much mental effort (I definitely was not paying attention to half of the lectures). If you put in a decent amount of effort, you'll be fine.

Dr. Anowski was a great professor! She basically just follows her slides but she has great energy and keeps it as engaging as possible for an introductory class. She uses a lot of examples to make the information clear which was really helpful. This class also had a ton of office hours so I always felt like I could get help easily when needed. The assignments and tests were manageable and super similar to the content learned in class. As long as you pay attention, you should be fine!

I really like this professor. She seems very down to earth and very reasonable. She also makes a 2 hour lecture as engaging as it can be and gives us a break everyday. All of the lectures are recorded on bruin cast and only 3 of the 20 are mandatory for the group work. You have to pick a group to work with, but it is only for a few labs. The rest of the work is independent and fairly easy to do. If you go to the lectures and pay attention, you will know all of the information. There is a textbook offered, but you don't need it and it is free anyways.
