Quarter: Winter 2017
Grade: A
March 20, 2017

Class is very doable as long as you skim over the material she went over in class in the textbook and participate in your discussion group. Doing SONA experiments for extra credit is basically necessary if you want to end with an A in this class, it adds 2% to your overall grade.

Quarter: Fall 2017
Grade: A
Feb. 18, 2018

CLASS MATERIAL: This class is by far the easiest psychology upper division I have ever taken. The material is very easy. Ankowski teaches more so breadth rather than depth, so you end up learning just the basics of most topics. This information is quite intuitive and I found that most of the information seemed like common sense.

PROFESSOR: Professor Ankowski is the most engaging woman ever. She is funny and tells stories about her own children. She makes class enjoyable, even when it is 8 AM in the morning.

GRADE: The grade is composed of two tests, a discussion group project, discussion questions, and other mini things combined into discussion (write ups and participation, etc.) She gives out three tests throughout the quarter and the top two scores compose your test grades. Most of what she lectures upon are in the test, with a few questions from her own book Think Like a Baby and another textbook. The discussion group project is extremely easy and you just need to put in the effort to get a good grade. Discussion questions were also easy. In general, as long as you put in effort, you will get a good group project and discussion question grade.

TEXTBOOK: The think like a baby book is hilarious and easy to read. Part of the experiments in this book are on the exam. The textbook on the other hand is dense and hard to read without wanting to fall asleep. She does have a few questions that are obscure and hidden in the textbook. I read through the textbook and ended up with a 95% and 100% on my exams.

Lectures are very fun and the professor is helpful. Exams are not as heavily lecture based as I thought, you for sure need to read the textbook carefully! TAs very great. Discussion was also fun. There is one easy group project, and one easy paper to write.

Quarter: Fall 2017
Grade: C

Did the bare minimum in this class. Great professor she is fun and very excited to teach i would recommend. Her and her husband wrote a book of experiments you can do at home and that is the required text for the class, its actually a good and easy read.
The class had 2 exams and an optional final the final would replace one of the exam scores that was lower than the final exam if you choose to take it. Taking optional final does not hurt your grade.
Discussion there is a group project on one of the experiments from her book. you have to present and write a short essay. Every week you are required to have 2 questions on the reading from her book and at the end of the quarter you will need a summary of 3 different presentations given throughout the section that quarter.
Tests are 50 Questions Multiple Choice non cumulative (except for optional final) not too bad if you go to class and study on your own.
I could have easily gotten an A or B in this class, but i simply could not wake up for the 8am it was too difficult so i went to class about 4 times in the entire quarter and still managed to pass.
Take this class just do better than me

Grade: A

The grade was based on the highest 2 of 3 exams and the performance of a group examination of an experiment. (Don't worry, the group project is not difficult). The textbook was quite dense and difficult to get through, but the lectures are crystal clear and quite enjoyable. Additionally, the book the instructor wrote is quite funny and an easy, informative read. She is always willing to help, you just have to ask. If you study the lectures and keep up with the reading, you will do very well.

Great professor! The exams are very lecture focused so as long as you go to every lecture and take notes you should do really well. She also lectures off of PowerPoint slides so you can go back and review the slides before exams. She's a lively professor with a sense of humor that won't bore you which makes an 8am class a little better. Take this class you won't regret it.

Good class.
Professor Ankowski's lectures are very easy, so easy this class could be lower div. Everything about this class is great but she makes a lot of mom jokes and repeats the same material verbatim from Think Like a Baby, which is a book she wrote with her husband. Grade breakdown is 2 midterms each worth 100 points and discussion points worth 100 points so over all you'll be graded out of 300 points . Theres an optional final that will replace your lowest exam score. Attendance for discussion is mandatory because participation is part of your grade. There is one paper and a presentation thats very easy. Textbook is very helpful.
Take this class! It's easy and very informing.

Seriously love Professor Ankowski. She is a great lecturer and really makes this class interesting. It's an interesting topic to begin with, but you really do learn a lot about children, which I find important to keep in mind as we move forward and start thinking about having a family. Off point. She is actually funny and really well-versed in her field of work, but if you're taking this class, take it with Professor Ankowski!
