What a sweet lady! Though she is hard to understand at times, she really does care about each individual student and truly tries to get to know you on a personal level. However, as a science major, I found the material agonizingly boring, and the length of the class period far too long to tolerate. Sometimes she would go off on a tangent, telling a story or anecdote for what seems like hours. If this is your area of study, I think you would like this class, but if you are more of a south campus kid, avoid her. But when it comes down to it you'll find an easy A and a GPA booster in this class. By the way, don't buy any of the books, as all the material you need to read is in the class reader.

While she seems like a very nice woman, who has had an interesting life her lectures are almost intelligible. I cannot understand 80% of what she says in class, and this is not for the lack of trying. When I ask her questions she doesn't understand what I am asking and gives me answers that are not helpful.

2 essay tests and a fieldwork project (6-8 pages + in class presentation)

Don't be afraid to take her, she is pretty easy, kind, and interesting, but don't go out of your way to take her class, it was not interesting or fun and I was very interested in the subject matter before hand.
