Quarter: Spring 2022
Grade: A

Easiest class. She does teach the bare minimum.
Basically a free A, but you have to kind of self-learn the concepts (which are easy)

She is a g when it comes to her midterm and final. Workload is extremely light with weekly homework consisting of a few questions a a quiz every 2/3 weeks (3 quizzes in total). If you're genuinely looking to learn math, take someone else as she does not go over certain topics (ex. Unforced Harmonic Motion, Trace Determinant Plane, Nonlinear Equations, etc.), but if you want an easy A, you're in luck.

Abysmal professor (worst I've had in my entire time at UCLA) - like the other reviews state, she's extremely disengaging in class, hard to understand, and puts little to no effort to help confused students. When people would ask questions at review sessions, she would just tell them to rewatch lectures, which were incoherent snoozefests. I attended none after week 4 and only reviewed the printed notes online, which she didn't even write - I would recommend people just look through those.

That being said, this class is extremely straightforward. You are told exactly what topics will be present on exams, and you only have to really do well on four homework assignments and two quizzes all quarter since the rest are dropped. You can easily get 100s on everything with very little effort.

If you look at Prof. Wang's reviews for 33B - yeah, it's pretty much the same for 33A.

In terms of learning linear algebra, I personally stopped attending the lectures after the second week in favor of just self-studying from the textbook - I found the lectures somewhat slow and unengaging, and the professor does have a fairly strong accent that made her at times somewhat hard to understand (whether the lectures got better as the quarter progressed, I couldn't say). Lectures were all recorded.

In terms of actual coursework, this class is very easy. You can basically just go off of the reviews for Wang's 33B.

Do not take her if you are a serious math major. She does not care to lecture. I had to learn a lot of the material on my own. Her easy homework, exams, and quizzes compensate, but you won't learn anything.

It is week 4, and I learned NOTHING from her. She mostly reads word for word from her notes, which mimics the textbook. She is not qualified to teach and she doesn't seem like she wants to be here. Whoever is a serious math major like myself, find another professor. I only go to discussions since going to her lecture feels like storytime.

Quarter: Spring 2023

Very easy class, as long as you go to discussion and understand the worksheets and homeworks you will be fine on exams. Lecture doesnt help that much ( was recorded as well ), disscussion is probably more worth it ( wasnt recorded ). The professor is very generous and listed each type of problem that would be on the midterm and final about a week in advance. As long as you know how to solve those types of problems you will score well, and they generally look like the problems on the hw/worksheet. She posts solutions to hw/ws which are helpful for studying. If kyle g. is TAing i reccomend him, he teaches the strategy for solving problems really well/in depth.

This class is just so convenient. Shortest and easiest homeworks ever, and she has review classes before every test where she literally tells you the exact problems that are going to be on it. Her lecture notes that she posts are excellent, they are typed up and very clear and concise like a textbook. I never went to class because it was just her reading straight from the notes but slower, I just learned the notes on my own and it was so much faster. If you can find a test bank and pay attention to the review practice questions, you can literally figure out every question on the final with the exact same numbers and answers. Learned an ok amount not a ton, but I got an easy A without even opening the textbook or going to class
