Prof Merlic = the God of O-chem. He is the best o-chem professor a student can ever ask for. He's got every piece of o chem knowledge neat and tidy in his mind. He's so clear and concise that it's hard not understanding something after he explains it. He def. made my first quarter here very enjoyable. I walked into his class after hearing all the o chem horror stories thinking, "This is gonna be a quarter of hell. Id probably walk out hating O chem for the rest of my life". But, I came out of that class loving ochem and every min of that class. His exams are super fair. Personally, I thought they were a bit too easy. He never tries to trick you and if you don't get the grade you want, then its probably your fault. His OH are very helpful so if you can make it, then go. Skim the textbook before going to class because he goes pretty fast and you'd be lost if you didn't read. The HW is pretty long, but do look over the problems. However, his practice exams are the most helpful so def. do those. Overall, I loved the class, the professor and the course material. Take this class if you have a chance. You won't regret it. I hope he teaches Chem 30C. I'd definitely take him again.
