He is nice and he posts his lecture video on line. There are a lot a stuff to memorize but if you go over the notes and slides, it won't be hard to get an A. Good luck. Want to buy the book? Email me:*************

Easy GE with a lab. Had him during the strike so he canceled the weekly quizzes. Always do the extra credit. Midterms and finals were very similar as in level of difficulty. Just study material. Some basic stuff you've learned in middle school tbh.

Class was made up weekly quizzes, two midterms, and a final. Labs were super easy and didn't require much participation. There was a light workload since all you had to do was complete a short quiz every week. Quizzes were timed and taken on Bruinlearn. The quizzes were not easy, but if you did the reading, you could've gotten 75% of the answers correct. Midterms and the final weren't easy but weren't overly difficult. The practice exams were similar to the tests and if you memorized a bunch of terms before each exam, you'd do pretty well. Quizlet was my best study tool. Don't rely solely on the readings, Make flashcards from the readings, the book, and the PowerPoint presentations. Schauble's a good lecturer and talks about more than what's on the slides so I'd go to his lectures and take notes. He's obviously passionate about the subject. Nice guy. Would take a class with him again. Content was boring at times but fine overall.

Solid GE, not much work considering this is a lab class. This class feels like a mix between STEM and humanities so I think almost anyone could succeed in it, although STEM majors probably have a slight advantage. Lots of concepts/facts you have to remember, but most are pretty straightforward. Lab is 40% of the grade and consists of participation and a small quiz each week (quizzes are easy, but a big part of grade so take them serious). Although lab is 2 hours it usually only takes about 1, and you can leave after you finish (they were pretty useless anyway). Professor is a good lecturer and great person, and somehow made learning about different types of mud at least somewhat interesting. Midterm 1 was stupid easy, midterm 2 and the final were harder but doable. Overall just a pretty easy, kinda boring GE.

Take my review with a grain of a salt because I am by no means a STEM oriented person. That being said, Professor Schauble and my TA Lauren didn't make it easier for me. His lectures were boring and everything's fair game between the lectures, textbook, and labs which made it impossible to determine what would be important on the exam. I feel that his lectures didn't even really pertain to the exams which was annoying. Also, lab was a pain in the ass, wasn't helpful at all and we had to take weekly quizzes which really dragged my grade down. Even though it was take home and I used the lab slides it was hard to get a good score, and the quizzes were only worth a few points so missing any questions brought the score down a lot. I wouldn't take this class again, I'm sure there's better ways to fulfill the science lab requirement.

If you need to take a lab class, I HIGHLY recommend you take it with Professor Schauble. He's very knowledgeable and very passionate about the subject. The class was graded on a curve, but was meant to help everyone rather than hinder. Labs were pretty straight forward, but often did not coincide with the lecture materials that were covered on the tests - but he made us aware of that. You do need to read the book to solidify core concepts, but as long as you put the work in, you'll get a good grade. Tests weren't designed to trick you and questions were straight forward as well. He's a sweet man and also offers many opportunities for extra credit. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM IF YOU CAN!! :)

This class is terrible. The lectures are boring and the labs are extremely unhelpful. Multiple times I have reached out to Schauble and my TA to clarify topics or to clear up an absence and their quickest reply was 4 days. The exams are manageable, but tough and he only gives like 5-10 practice questions to prepare yourself with
