COURSE TAKEN: History 142D, U.S. Popular Culture

Logistics: lecture, no section, 4 books, 30% in-class midterm [terms and essay, which he goes over in class], 60% final paper, and extra credit [1-page paper at the end of your midterm].

I really really loved this class. Due to my interest in American history, I found learning about it from a cultural perspective extremely fascinating. Professor Avila is an extremely engaging lecturer who comes prepared with videos and photos to help keep you engaged. This class encompasses pop culture from about 1880 to 1970. The readings are helpful, especially for the midterm, and the content of the course is exciting if you're into movies, TV, celebrities, and other fun topics. I wish I could take this class again.
