Quarter: Spring 2022
Grade: A

Good teacher, but this class can be A LOT of work. I have massive study guides for all exams and quizzes (which include many of the actual quiz and exam questions, explained and answered). If interested, email me at *************

This is the last time Laski was teaching this class as he proceeded to retire, but overall the class was great. Dr. Cohn taught it with him, but I thought that Laski was the better of the two professors. Laski does cover the easier material, but he always seemed to explain it better and simpler. It is a flipped classroom, where you watch videos before you go to lecture and then answer clickers in class. His exams were quite easy and really close to the practice exams, while Cohn made harder exams. Cohn made the final, which got moved online due to COVID, and it turned out to be almost impossible to complete in the slotted time (3.5 hours). They did curve the class because of this, but be careful.

Laski is a sweetheart! He made our final online due to students' COVID concerns and cancelled our need to buy iClicker Reef (which saved a lot of us money) midquarter because of how the quarter went. He had some trouble working out Zoom lectures but I would still rate the quality of his lectures to be around 9/10. I didn't make it to any of the in-person lectures later on in the quarter and just watched the recorded lectures. I liked that he went through a lot of practice problems, some of which appeared in the midterms. There are weekly pre-lecture videos and quizzes (two a week) but I think the hardest part of those is just remembering to take them in the first place. Midterms 1 and 2 went well for me but the difficulty of the final kind of surprised me. However time wasn't an issue which was a plus.

Laski was an amazing professor! He was very sweet, he's older so when we were on Zoom for the first few weeks he wasn't really sure how to work it but once we were in person he got back into his swing of things. He prints out all his slides and writes on them using a projector and it's honestly really helpful and makes it clear during lecture what he's doing.

I really enjoyed the material so I found the class really enjoyable but I think after the second midterm I started to slack off on studying because of a heavy courseload this quarter but it was definitely a fun class. Laski is retiring this year so if you have the opportunity to take it with him I would!

At first I thought I missed out not getting into Pham's class, but I soon realized Laski is amazing, probably better (IIRC Pham has a accent that may make it difficult to understand him). He is fantastic at explaining concepts and making them simple. So great that Pham uses Laski's pre-lecture videos in his own class. The workload is manageable. There are pre-class modules and short quizzes and clicker participation is required. I ended with a B because tests were quite challenging but it's probably my own lack of preparation to be honest. I highly recommend this class as an elective, and taking it with Laski specifically. 10/10
