Fall 2017 - FRANK is A BABY protect him at all costs. I actually had him for LS7B (not on the drop down menu) and I enjoyed the portion of the class that he taught (genetics). He always explained the clicker questions and made sure to answer all questions students had. For his tests, make sure to thoroughly look at the practice exam questions on LaunchPad.

Spring 2022 - This is the last time Laski was teaching this class as he proceeded to retire, but overall the class was great. Dr. Cohn taught it with him, but I thought that Laski was the better of the two professors. Laski does cover the easier material, but he always seemed to explain it better and simpler. It is a flipped classroom, where you watch videos before you go to lecture and then answer clickers in class. His exams were quite easy and really close to the practice exams, while Cohn made harder exams. Cohn made the final, which got moved online due to COVID, and it turned out to be almost impossible to complete in the slotted time (3.5 hours). They did curve the class because of this, but be careful.

I took Dr. Laski's LS4 class (wasnt an option in the drop down menu). He is one of the best lecturers at UCLA. Although he may go fast at times he is very organized with how he approaches the material. He uses clickers which are very helpful when you need to review the notes. His podcasts were essential to doing well in the class. This class boils down to whether or not you did enough problems. He has taught the class for years so he knows how twist a concept around to make it seem unfamiliar. People that complain about this simply aren't ready for the test. Do as many problems as you can and focus a lot on his practice tests that he gives and you can get an A.

Class taken: LS4 I thought LS4 was supposed to be an easy class, but then I had Dr. Laski. However, I learned a lot and I really enjoyed the class. He is super-available, and holds office hours (called "clinics") every week, and sometimes on weekends before the exams. He is friendly, and always willing to answer questions. He isn't the best at explaining certain concepts, but he has an excellent background in the molecular side of the material. Like all the other classes here at UCLA, you get the grade you earned. He gives practice problems from the book, clearly discusses topics that will be tested on via Powerpoint, makes practice exams, and holds so many office hours it makes you want more units for the class. If you fail an exam, that's really because you didn't study. I really liked how he went into the molecular and medical (cancer) aspect of genetics. It made the course much more enjoyable. Like all LS classes, the book is way too comprehensive to cover in 10 weeks, but his Powerpoints are an excellent summary. Overall, a 9/10. I really recommend him for LS4, even though it's challenging. You learn a lot, and he covers vital MCAT material :)
