Prof page is an actual godsend, I don't think I can say enough great things about him. Such a great professor who genuinely cares about his students and wants you to succeed. he was always super accommodating and understanding with any requests esp in terms of health/COVID.
Classwork was pretty engaging and workload was totally manageable -- it was primarily one or two readings a week with participation discussion posts along with bigger papers/projects along the way. He walks you through all of the assignments and is super helpful if you need any help. The way he conducted class actually made me look forward to going to class every week and I was able to make a bunch of friends in class which is always a bonus, especially since it was my first quarter.
Just an overall great guy, a 10/10 experience which seems to be an anomaly when I hear about other EC3 classes?? I would 100% take a class with Page again if I could. Plus Page always walked in with a pretty cool fit and tote bag which I admire.

Professor Page is THE goat. Of all the classes I have taken up to this point, this class is in my top 3. He is very very helpful and genuinely has an interest in his students. Literally do not take English Comp 3/3D if it’s not with Professor Page.

Professor Page is one of the best professors I've ever had at UCLA. The class is designed to help you out a lot with attendance and participation points. There are only two essays and Page sets you up well for success. He's a great teacher and I honestly feel like a stronger writer after his class.

For English Composition 3 and 3D, TAKE PROFESSOR PAGE! He's super clear, accommodating, engaged, and helpful. I heard horror stories about other English professors and I'm so glad I didn't relate to any of that.

Professor Page; the man, the myth, the legend! If the opportunity of taking his class falls into your lap, I repeat DO NOT let it pass you by! He was by far the best professor I've ever had not to mention funny, enthusiastic about the content, and genuinely caring about his students. My love for writing blossomed during my time in his class because I felt as if we were taught actual tangible tools to help us become better writers. I've been periodically checking class planner ever since to see if he added on any additional classes because I genuinely would love nothing more than to take one more class with him before I graduate.

I highly recommend Prof Page for EngComp 3! His lessons were really interesting and tied into the real world. You can tell he cares about his students and he's super thoughtful and kind. I'm thankful I had him because I know some other english profs were a lot more strict and boring.

Quarter: Fall 2022
Grade: A

Prof Page is a very kind person and a great teacher. He is very passionate about the stuff that he teaches and makes it a point for everybody’s voice to be heard. He encourages participation but doesn’t really pick on people unless he knows that you have something to talk about (because he sat in on your group). The theme of the class was “Democracy, Pluralism, and the Public Sphere,” so there was a lot of political talk but it was very interesting. The grade breakdown is as follows:
5% Diagnostic Essay
20% Analytical Essay
5% Annotated Bibliography
30% Argumentative Essay
10% Multimodal Presentation
10% Discussion Forum Posts
5% Reading Quizzes
15% Attendance and Participation
The diagnostic essay (~500 words) is graded on completion and effort. The analytical essay (~1,000 words) is on a certain topic assigned to everyone. The annotated bibliography, argumentative essay (~1,500 words), and presentation are all connected and based on a topic of your choice. There were six discussion forum posts and were all easy to answer and graded on completion (and he did read and comment on some of them). The reading quizzes were a little tricky in my opinion, even when I did the readings. It was very easy to get a point knocked off, but the lowest score was dropped (there were three). The workload for this course was very manageable.
Overall, I highly recommend Prof Page for Eng Comp 3/3D. He is very understanding of personal circumstances and provides good feedback. The only con I can think of for this class is that he does not give 100s on essays and his grading can feel random at times. The highest grade that he gave on essays was a 95 (from what I saw from grade distributions on Canvas). However, it is still very possible to get an A in the class with enough effort. Again, I recommend this class!

Incredible professor, I loved every minute of his class. Going into the class, I felt like I already knew the concepts that he taught about, but through the quarter he refined my understanding and helped me grow as a writer. I was sick some days and he was very understanding of my circumstances and emailed me the coursework fro the day personally. FRESHMAN, I STRONGLY TAKING THIS CLASS.

I took ENGCOMP 3D with Dr Page but there was no page for that course so thought I'd add on here.

I was absolutely dreading writing going into this class but one thing I can definitely say is Dr Page made me fall in love with it again. I learnt how to truly write and could actually see a visible improvement in my skills over the quarter. The workload was never awful, there was one or two readings per week (a couple of pages max) followed by discussion posts for each. He was always accommodating, even when a student forgot about a discussion post deadline, he would reopen it so that we could submit it. He is really engaging and the class structure helps you get to know others in your class as well. I would highly encourage anyone having to take Writing I to take it with professor Page. You will learn so much and actually enjoy learning it!

This class was so great that I requested to get this professor a site on Bruinwalk. Professor Page is very interesting and engaging, and he very clearly cares about the content he's teaching. The workload is basically discussion forum questions for each reading, and either a small writing project weekly or medium-sized writing projects bi-weekly. These projects seem daunting and large, but I found that I got the best results when I just started writing and went from there. Starting your work early and reading the textbook is the key to success, but he's pretty understanding when you need an extension for anything. Professor Page makes a significant effort to know a little bit about everyone in his class, and the way he incorporates our personal differences into his lectures about personal identity is very well-done. He's my favorite professor I've had at UCLA so far, and he will give you explicit direction about how to improve your work while understanding that everyone starts on a different footing. His classroom environment is perfect for meeting and making new friends, and the final writing assignments include a movie analysis (Moonlight, for us) and a slideshow about current events regarding diversity.

TLDR; Page is funny, relatable, enthusiastic, well-knowledged, and very understanding with his classes. I cannot recommend him enough, and he seriously has me considering pursuing more writing as a CSE major.
