While professor Liebing is an extremely kind man, this class is incredibly unorganized. The lectures had no clear structure and aimlessly wandered from one topic to the next. Some group projects/midterms/finals were never discussed in class, leading to a lot of confusion as to what they were, when they were due, and and how to complete them. Due dates/assignments were often changed last minute because of this.
The class also has little to do with marketing/distribution. i was personally very interested in this topic so I was disappointed when the class barely skimmed over the topics. If anything this class is more of a development class. The final/group projects see you develop your own personal projects/studios. While a marketing plan is included, we were never taught how to develop this marketing plan or structure it. I just more or less took a best guess.
The second half of the class basically just turned into an array of guest speakers. Some of them were interesting, but overall it kind of got depressing. Some were a little too grim and almost made me rethink my career choice. There's nothing wrong with being real about the business, but the way they viewed it was almost gross.

With all of these being said the class is an easy A. As long as you try and put in a good effort you'll probably be fine, even if piecing together due dates/prjects can be stressful. I also do think that Liebing is a great guy, just that this class wasn't his main priority.
Overall if you are just looking for easy upper div credits it's not a bad class to take, but if you're actually wanting to learn more about the marketing and distribution side of filmmaking, this probably isn't the class for you.

I took multiple courses with Prof Liebing, and he was AWESOME! The classes are completely manageable—no quizzes, tests, or exams. The homework is to make 10 questions you have about the reading material (which is very light and doable), lecture, or the film industry – and that’s it! Easy A! The midterm and final is take home and are very easy. I highly recommend taking any FTV classes with Prof. Liebing.
