Fall 2024 - Professor Choi has so far been my favorite instructor at UCLA. Since the class is smaller, she gets to know each students name and checks to make sure each student is supported in their learning. I joined a week late, and she was so kind and helpful about catching up. She really wanted for us to be able to take the class, even next semester, so she was very accommodating. She responded fast to emails and made sure she was available to help students that were struggling in the class. For the course itself, I really enjoyed how it was set up. Not having discussions made it a lot easier to fit into my schedule. The only (personal) issue I had with the course was that I thought it was hard to actually practice Korean mainly because everyone in the class was actually Korean and I was not so I was more self conscious about how I sounded. Again, that was just me, so I would definitely take this class if you can.

Winter 2020 - 최 선생님! She is a very sweet and very giggly teacher, she's so cute! She always has a smile on her face and she's very approachable! This was my first time taking her and since her last review on here was from 2017, I was a little nervous but fret not, she's still as amazing as she was since the first review was posted! I took 임 선생님 for Korean 1 so I don't know how similar the structure for 최 선생님's Korean 2 class is compared to her Korean 1 class, but there's a vocab quiz every lecture beginning the second week of the course, there are two lesson tests and one cumulative final, two in-class writing assignments and there are two oral tests. The three tests are pretty much the same as Korean 1 test reviews--she uploads the test format and possible questions she may ask on CCLE so if you just go by that, you'll be good (she's not sneaky/tricky)! The first oral test is a video dub that you do with a partner and the second oral test is a video dub you do by yourself--these are both submitted via CCLE so you don't have to present them! The writing assignments are based off of two essay prompts from the workbook, but they're alright since you just have to write a minimum of 10-13 sentences and the TAs hold in-class writing workshops so they can help you with organizing it/grammar. Homework assignments are still from the workbook and you turn the packet in during discussion. The hardest part of this class is the honorifics introduced and 최 선생님 knows this, but it can't be helped ;-; Apart from the honorifics, the course was very easy going and both 최 선생님 and her TAs were very helpful and understanding so if you are struggling, I really recommend going to their office hours!

Winter 2024 - My review is going to be pretty similar to what I had for Korean 1A: I decided for my reviews now I will justify my numbers for the review: Easiness: 5 - Not that difficult, just put in the work and you should be fine, you should brush up on your Korean 1A stuff. If you genuinely want to learn the language it should be fine. Clarity: 5 - She is really good at explaining the rules for conjugations. Workload - 5: Not much workload, same thing as KOREAN 1A Helpfulness - 5: Super helpful, holds office hours, answers questions very willingly and was willing to hold appointments. About the Prof: Professor Choi is one of the nicest professors I've had at UCLA. She is really fun to be in class with and really makes you want to learn korean. 100% recommend. Class: The class has the same layout as Korean 1A except different content obviously. Near the end there is alot of conjugations that might seem like alot at first but I recommend dividing it up into categories and remembering it that way and doing anki cards throughout the quarter so that you don't have to study for the final. Despite this, this class was not much work and just fun.

Spring 2024 - Easiness – 5 Pretty easy class, same as Korean 1A and 2A. Clarity – 5 Very clear on the class and the content. Workload – 5 Workload is very light same as Korea 1A and 2A Helpfulness – 5 If I could give a higher score for this I would, very helpful professor, if you have any concerns about your progress or anything you should definitely tell her because she would be more than willing to help Overall – 5 - I had a great experience with the class and professor the entire year. The whole year I was taking 4 classes, and it was completely manageable despite it being 5 units. I highly recommend taking Korean 1A, 2A, and 3A series with Professor Choi.
