a wonderful teacher.... not only does she know her material, but she takes the time to explain it thoroughly and gives you hints on both the midterms and the final. the final, which consisted about eighty percent from direct questions from the first two midterms, was mostly completed within the first 40 minutes of the designated three hour time. if you print the first two midterms answers, then you cannot get anything lower than a b on the final because she directly, and i mean DIRECTLY, gets questions from those first two midterms. the remaining of the questions are from lectures after the second midterm. also PLEASE ATTEND THE STUDY SESSION!!! both times that i went for the midterm and the final were so helpful and not only that, but the t.a. mostly goes over questions that will probably be on the final. additionally, every so often you have study questions that she directly picks the midterm/final questions from... so DO THOSE TOO!!! i never read any of the books, and didnt need to since all the answers were found in lecture or in discussion, and if not just email the t.a. and she will give you the answers... i would recommend this class to anyone willing to learn and have fun!!!

i learned sooo much in that class... she is very insightful and light-hearted, yet she gets to the point and does a good job at explaining what she means. if you have a question, she answers it as thoroughly as she can, if not she always suggests to come to her office hours. her tests are multiple choice, all of them, but she makes it soo easy to do. if you go to the study sessions, all the answers will be there so i suggest that you go. on the final, the got both the first two midterms and took out the EXACT same questions, but added a little more. so, if you took the first two midterms and take time to print out the answers from the course website, then you are for sure going to get at least a b on the final, because she only put like ten or fifteen questions that were not on the first two midterms because of the subjects we had just finished covering. also, the final was finished by almost everyone within the first forty-five/fifty minutes of the three hour designated time... i recommend to take her... shes not that hard and you learn sooooo much

Turner is very friendly, smart, and intelligent, but I didn't enjoy this class as much as I hoped I would. (I highly recommend taking astronomy 3 with McLean prior to taking this course, by the way.) She goes a lot into calculations which can go over the heads of the not-so-mathematically inclined, and though calculations are important for the subject matter, we were tested on very little of these. I think she may be a lot better for students in the astronomy major or those who are genuinely interested in math and physics.
