Prof. Westbay is alright. She taught the class pretty well, the subject (disability) was depressing but informative, and I feel that my writing did improve. That said, she's not very clear on exactly what she wants you to revise in your papers. Often my classmates and I felt confused. Despite utilizing office hours I didn't receive sufficient answers to many of my questions.

She is a wonderful old lady to have as a friend, but not as a professor. I couldn't stand this course, it was boring and frustrating. All of the work and readings done are on Darwin and Lincoln. She gave too much work and is a hard grader. I do not recommend her, do yourself a favor.

If you like to read, and like to write, you'll cruise through this class. I barely did any of the readings and I still was able to get a b+. Ms. Westbay is a very sweet lady and very easy to talk to. She is always available for office hours. This class was based on 3 papers and many busy homework assignments and mini essays on the readings. The topics for the 3 papers were ridiculous but she helps you with revising. The only thing is I could never figure out what she wanted because she would tell me what was wrong with my paper, and I would fix it but i would still get a b- on the paper. I should've gotten an A in this class so I'm still bitter. You should take it but don't believe her when she says your on your way to an A paper because she'll still give you a B- no matter how hard you try.

Professor Westbay is a very concerned teacher who knows her stuff. She's no math major when it comes to grades, but what can you expect? She'll make you a better writer if you do your assignments. Best English teacher you could realistically ask for. Gives alotttt of A's.........maybe too many. If at all possible, she's the way to go.

Being a 4th year engineering major, this class was a welcome break from all of my engineering classes. Westbay is very accomodating and likes to work with you anytime you need an extension. Overall, not a hard class at all. Some of the work is tedious, but the amount of freedom she gives you in writing a paper is really helpful.I would definitely recommend her for an English class.
