I had him for summer school and our class topic was Mind and Media. I felt like this class was relatively easy. He gives good writing advise and helps guide you in writing your own papers. As a incoming freshmen, this class was a good transition for me.

The theme of the class was fantastic (happiness), and I think I learned a lot about life as well as about writing. Prof. Lisovsky is a great guy and genuinely concerned about his students. He pretty much made going to office hours mandatory, which I appreciated. When reading and hearing his comments, I never got the impression that he felt superior or was tearing apart my personal style. He's somewhat flexible in terms of grading and assigning papers, which I think is necessary for teaching writing effectively.

He is so nice and kind! Due dates are never set in stone and he allows you to re-write your papers over and over. I suck at writing, and never got below an 85 on any paper for my first attempt. There are only four essays, 3 of which are quite easy. The topic of the class wasn't the most fascinating but meh, I don't really care.

He is very understanding and will help you with anything. I missed 7 out of the 20 classes and still got an A-.

He does assign some reading questions that go along with some light hw which I hated because they were tedious but as long as you write something, you'll be fine.

His course reader is SOO small too!

You'll have to do some work in this class, but I can guarantee its easier than any other english comp class. He is such a great professor, he's dedicated and he loves what he teaches. He grades things really quickly too.

Take him, take him, take him!

~From a person who hates english classes and was looking for an easy way out but also took some skills from it!

I took him for eng comp 2 and thought he would be great for eng comp 3....WRONG! Although eng comp 2 was fun and very useful, eng comp 3 was quite the opposite. This is NOT AN ENGLISH CLASS, and more of an ANTHROPOLOGY CLASS. It's 3 months of primitive vs modern civilizations, technologies advantages, food production and agriculture, human tendencies, old testament stories, etc. After awaile you are soooo over it! That's really my main complaint. I also didn't like how quickly you would move through the class. It felt like every 2 weeks you're doing another paper. You got to do all the readings and all the paper preparations because its all graded. The professor, despite what others say, really is SUPER NICE and CONCERNED!!!! He is FAIR and the course is CHALLENGING for an A. Just make sure you go to office hours and talk him through your paper ideas. He'll give you great feedback and you'll for sure understand what he's looking for from the start. (so you dont get a C or worse because of a misunderstanding.) You also can REVISE for a BETTER GRADE. You only need to find the time to do it. This particular professor isn't bad, but there are better eng comp 3 classes out there.

For those needing eng comp 2, TAKE HIM! But for those needing eng comp 3, try LOOKING SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Overall, it was a great class to take.
He let us to revise every single one of our essays, and it really helped to improve my grade.
Just be aware of the amount of work you have to get through.
