I was so lucky to take Prof. Harris' EC3 in my first quarter. I thought all EC3 courses were as easy as my class until I saw how my friends were tormented by their EC3 professor. I'm from Beijing and English isn't my native language, but I still get an A. So take Harris' class and don't worry about your grades.
Our reading and writing topic is online V.S. paper reading. We didn't use textbook but read the articles Prof. Harris posted on ccle. The articles are 3-5 page long, selected from magazines such as New Yorker, Scientific American. There're also longer academic essay. But the weekly reading load is totally manageable.
What you need to do:
1. Weekly reading and annotation
2. Several short essays: each took me no longer than 1 hour to finish)
3. Two major essays: you need to make appointments with Prof. Harris and revise it for one or two times.
4. Group project: it can be anything? I don't remember clearly. My group just made a short video no longer than four minutes.
Prof. Harris is really kind and graceful:) And she'd like to chat with you about your life during appointments. Although I don't think I significantly improved my English writing skills through this class, but I do get a sense of academic writing in college

nice teacher. we went over how the digital age has affected present day and got to watch a lot of youtube related things. read one text book. only had to write two 4-5 paged essays and one 5-6 paged final essay along with a digital project. (if youre not that strong of a writer she offers a lot of her time to help you!) overall she's pretty easy. =]

She's great! i took her my freshman year and now that i'm about to graduate, i would like to take another class with her. damn i miss Leigh Harris!
