Professor Hunter was very engaging and made the class very fun and interesting. His lectures were very clear and the lecture materials were very organized. It was also a great experience hearing from the guest speakers and learning from their life experiences. It was clear that professor Hunter puts a lot of his own personal time into developing M5 course materials and coordinating with these guest speakers, and I greatly respect and appreciate that.
Professor Hunter conveyed from the beginning what his learning goals for us as students were. He also connected all of our work to the lectures and readings which helped me as a students understand the class more.
The strengths are that Prof. Hunter really immerses every student into the Black Experience in a very interesting and spiritual way. A weakness I can think of is that the assignments were all stacked at the end of the quarter, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Overall, one of the best classes I have ever taken and the Prof. cares a lot about the class.
Professor Hunter is an exceptional instructor who genuinely cares about his students and their success. His commitment to teaching is evident in his engaging lectures, his willingness to answer questions, and even more. He is undoubtedly one of the best professors at UCLA, making this class a great experience for students. The course structure is thoughtfully designed, with a manageable workload consisting of two papers, a midterm, a final, and a multimedia project. This balance allows students to delve deeply into the material without feeling overwhelmed, making it an excellent choice for those interested in the subject.
One of the greatest strengths of this course is its engaging and creative approach to learning, particularly through the multimedia project. This unique assignment provides an opportunity for students to apply their knowledge in a practical and enjoyable way, catering to a range of learning styles. Additionally, the reasonable workload enables students to manage their time effectively, which is a significant advantage compared to other courses. Professor Hunter’s supportive and encouraging teaching style further enhances the experience, creating a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable participating and exploring ideas. However, there are a few areas where the course could improve. Providing a more detailed rubric or showcasing examples of successful projects could make the assignment more accessible.
Overall, Professor Hunter’s dedication and the thoughtful structure of the course make it a standout experience at UCLA. I highly recommend this class to anyone interested in the subject.

This is definitely an easy GE, that also covers the diversity requirement. I would strongly recommend it, the midterm and final are both essays.

Professor Hunter is so amazing. He is so passionate about his teachings. What I loved most about his class is that he incorporated a lot of art and music which was super fun and engaging. I would totally recommend this class to anyone. Easy GE and a great time.
