Prof. Scicluna is quite fun and engaging. She's very upbeat and enthusiastic, and she provides good feedback. We wrote our papers about movies, which I found much more interesting than the typical English class. This class was structured around the 3 papers. I found it helpful that we had peer review groups for our rough drafts, and that we were required to send her a rough draft for comments before submitting the final draft. The grading is a bit tougher (with truly very few papers getting As) but that's about what I expected going in.

Her class isn't helpful. The workload was Okay. Her suggestions for the essays were not clear or beneficial.

Thank God that I could use PNP grade during this pandemic. If I don't have the pass/no pass option for this class, I will be really disappointed about my overall GPA.

The workload is pretty manageable, but I can't honestly say I learnt anything new taking this class. There are three essays (one 4+ pages, one 5+ pages, one 6+ pages though according to her the page limit of the last paper varies between 4 and 6 based on her assessment of the class's needs) due over the course of the quarter, and she gives you about two weeks from the time she assigns the prompt to the deadline for the rough draft. I'm pretty sure she sets a timer while reviewing the drafts and until her timer goes off she'll give you detailed feedback on your rough draft. After that point, she skims your draft and gives you brief comments on what she thinks you can improve. (For reference, she usually got to the end of my first page before skimming.) All of the prompts have to do with analyzing film, so it's nothing too stressful. Besides the essays, she assigns weekly reading responses (250-300 words) graded for completion, but none of the readings are over 10 pages or are super dense. She's fairly responsive to requests for clarification. Overall, not a bad class.
