Michael is an amazing Physics professor with a whimsical sense of humor. There are many professors who are extremely knowledgeable, but what sets Michael apart is that he is able to break down complicated concepts and explain them in simple terms. His lectures are just so engaging with his funny jokes and interesting experiments. He even dressed up for Halloween and bought us snacks for Thanksgiving! Homework assignments aren't time-consuming (8 questions per week) and quite fun to work on, while exams are fair too as long as you put in effort into revision. Also, kudos to Casey, our brilliant TA who's able to explain all the abstract E-field concepts in intuitive ways. I would highly recommend taking Physics 1B with Michael!

Michael is hands down the best and most fun professor for 1B. This class is hard. That's never going to change, but he does such an amazing job making this as enjoyable and worth it as possible. He always gave us 5-10 extra minutes in the exam, is SUPER forgiving with grading and overall such an enthusiastic and fun professor. The class is hard but definitely try to take it with him if you can:) WE love Michael<3

The exams and homework are fair and definitely doable. The first part of the class is mainly about oscillations and waves, and then it's about electricity. Personally I like electricity more because for oscillations there are really a lot of formulas to remember. One thing which is worth notice that the professor does not give much derivations for the formulas, and he does not give a lot of examples neither, so be prepared to figure out how to do questions on your own.

If you can take 1B with him DO IT. He technically takes participation via online questions but honestly, I would just wake up, do them, and go straight back to sleep because its based on participation not correction. The homeworks are decently challenging but I do think they prepare you really well for the midterms and final. Still, they do not take more than ~3-4 hours a week. I would go to lecture the first few weeks before I got lazy and honestly hes a good lecture and a decently funny guy. Hes passionate, an engaging lecturer, and a good professor all the way. The best part about his class though is the simple fact that his exams are EASY compared to OTHER 1B professors. 1B as a class is going to be hard regardless but compared to what midterms/finals other 1B profs had his class is just way way way easier. Also, you can just read the lecture notes alongside the textbook to get a good understanding of the material. Hell, you can literally JUST read the textbook and probably get an A in the class. I literally just didn't feel like studying for the final and didnt learn the last ~3 weeks of material, bombed the final and still ended with an A- in the class. Would recommend.
