Professor Moe was an interesting professor to say the least. She seemed like she was very nice and you could talk to her if you needed something but the concepts of the class were very all over the place. Could never really tell what she was asking for in assignments and papers. The class is primarily just showing up to class and doing the writing assignments twice a week Along with a little group project and final paper towards the end of the quarter. Overall not my favorite class but if you have it required you can bust it out not to badly.

I am not a huge fan of english classes in general, so when I realized that I had to take English Comp 3 I dreaded it. I took Dr. Moe because of her great bruinwalk reviews and her nice grading curve. I'm so glad I took this class as I think I would've struggled with anyone else. There is homework due every class but its a mere 200-300 words to which she gives you some questions to answer in response to some reading. I really enjoyed the way she gave us these 200-300 word assignments twice a week instead of writing essays. This was less dreadful but still useful for developing my skills. Participation was worth 20%, so as long as you said a couple things each class (even if you were just asking questions because you were confused), you would get full credit. The homework was worth 30% which was easy enough to get full credit for since each piece of HW is worth like 3 points and is essentially graded on completion. I can't remember the actual criteria for the HW but it was something along: reaching the word count, answering the questions, and showing that you read the articles (VERY EASY TO DO). Then 10% of the grade comes from the draft of the final essay, and 40% comes from the final draft of the essay. I HATE writing essays and struggled with this one, but despite doing average (89% on draft, and 83% on final), I still managed to get an A. Dr. Moe is super nice and really tries her best to make class engaging. She even brought donuts the first day of class!

I really liked this class! It is very heavy in both class participation and writing, but grading isn't too harsh on most assignments. Attendance is mandatory, but our class discussions were always engaging. I have no negatives to say about the class other than there was a quick turnaround with the assignment deadlines. Overall, I liked the class a lot and I think it helped improve my writing as well.

Selling required material! In brand-new shape - no marks or folds at all.
Course Reader: $50 (originally $65)
Signs of Resistance by Bonnie Siegler: $5
EDIT: both sold
This class has two parts: first few weeks are focused on events of national memory, while the second part is focused on the theme resistance through the miniseries The Plot Against America, which your paper analyzes as well. To be honest I'm not a fan of politics, but this class was manageable and I learnt a lot. Class participation counts toward your grade, but as long as you read the material and do some critical thinking and talk it's fine. Professor Moe is really nice and cares about including everybody in learning. For the final paper, read the rough draft comments carefully, go to the writing center (really helpful) and you should be fine. I would say that the homework is heavier compared to other writing classes but grading is generous (full marks as long as you show effort). To be concise, don't cram, put some effort into this class (it is 5 credits), be attentive to feedback, and it'll be a good quarter.

Professor Moe is super interesting. While others were taking Shakespeare or fairytale-themed classes, ours was about 9/11 and white supremacy. So, class was definitely engaging and thought provoking.
She is a great teacher, and knows how to assign work that will further your understanding of the concepts.
The only issue is that the workload is a bit much for a 5.0 unit ENGCOMP class. She asks for two short essays a week, that aren't very hard to write. The hard part is getting through the readings she assigns. The articles are often long and tedious to unpack. Although they are interesting, I was putting more effort into this class than my STEM ones.

tldr; take the class, she's a good professor and is helpful. you can get an A easily.
caveats: be prepared for some reading and a short essay twice a week.

The course reader had very interesting articles. Professor Moe always engaged with students, asking us to discuss with our peers and have larger group discussions as well. There are two small essay questions a week, as well as two large papers based on the reading and viewing homework. She is very eager to help students that ask for it. More than just an English class, 100% recommend.

Dr. Moe is one of the best English and writing teachers I have ever met. She is very enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable about the topic she teaches. In the class, she demands us to develop our writing skills and styles by connecting different political topics. Honestly, I had little interest in American politics as an international student, but the class definitely brought me some passion toward the topic. Regarding the class materials, the homework require many readings and two small papers submitted on Monday and Wednesday. The writing assignments were pretty challenging for me, while I really found myself developing a style after completing all of the assignments. The final paper has a minimum length of 8 page, and we need to develop an analysis toward the TV series The Plot Against America with connections with materials we have read in class. I had a terrible first draft, but Dr. Moe was very generous on grading and very helpful in paper conferences, so that I stilled managed to pull an A out of the class.

Dr. Moe is a great professor. She's so nice and helpful, and the class material is very interesting and engaging. There were two homework assignments per week that required a bit of reading/watching, but she grades pretty easily on those so it's no big deal. She also gives a couple extra credit assignments. We had one big paper due at the end of the quarter. She was very helpful during paper conferences. As long as you participate this class is great.

Professor Moe is amazing! Our class was based around a TV show "The Plot Against America", which was really engaging, and we also read lots of interesting articles and watched some more interesting movies. Discussions around these topics were very engaging, and the papers we wrote around these topics were papers that were interesting to write. Professor Moe ensures that everyone has a chance to speak, and helps you develop your ideas further. She is also prompt with replying to emails and making accommodations if needed. The workload was a bit heavy but that might have also been cause I took this class in the summer quarter which moves faster (it was a 6-week program), but the work was always interesting and engaging. I would definitely recommend taking her class!

If I could give Professor Moe a 10 for "Helpful", I would! She is so amazing. I took her class after being away from school for 20 years. I was a horrible writer. This class was instrumental in preparing for the numerous papers that I would have to write for other courses. I owe all of my successful papers to Prof Moe!
