Winter 2016 - I hesitate to write as scathing a review about Prof. Yrjonsuuri as the other one that was recently written, since he tried his best to help students when they needed it and asked questions. He gave us paper prompts further in advance than I've ever received, and we got a clear study guide for the final. However, his accent was thick, slides were generally uninformative, and lectures were unclear as a result. The workload was very light most of the time, but when paper-writing time came along, it took so long to make sense of the material because of my confusing notes and the slides. I think my TA saw that, so it wasn't too difficult to get an A in the class. But without my TA, I would not have understood the material. We had 2 papers (30% each), a section/participation grade (15%), and an easy multiple choice final (25%).

Winter 2016 - Take everything you hope your Professor will not be when you enroll in a course; Stuttering, unclear, sporadic structure, slides with meaningless information, monotone, long distracting tangents that do not directly have to do with the material at hand, then add one of the strongest accents you'll ever hear and you get Professor Mikko. If you somehow bring your attention 'A game' to class and are able to comprehend at least 85% of words he's saying, you're left with an incredibly dry and poorly delivered lecture at absolute best. He is the worst Professor I've ever had and I really do hope that never changes. To clarify, I'm writing this about his 100b, History of Medieval Philosophy. The class is not listed under his name on bruin walk so I'm leaving it here.
