Prof. Lu is one of the most supportive and approachable professors I’ve had at UCLA. He genuinely cares about his students' success, both academically and in their future careers, and goes above and beyond to be a resource for anyone who needs extra guidance. Whether it’s help with class concepts or advice on career paths, he’s always generous with his time and makes himself available for any questions you have.
The class is definitely challenging, but the exams are clear and based entirely on the material he teaches. If you put in the effort, attend lectures, and engage with the practice problems, you'll be well-prepared to excel in the class. Take his class if you get a chance to!
Prof. Lu is a very engaging lecturer who pays close attention to the details that really prepare you for the CPA exam. I also had him for Mgmt 120A, and his notes were always clear, well-organized, and easy to follow. I highly recommend keeping those notes, as they will be a really helpful resource when you’re studying for the CPA exams.
Also don’t let the class's grade distribution intimidate you. Although the tests are challenging, Prof. Lu covers all the material in depth during lectures, so if you attend lectures and put in the work, you will be well-prepared. Don’t be discouraged by your first midterm grade either. Accounting is a skill that improves with practice. Prof. Lu truly cares about his students and is always available for support, whether it’s for accounting help or career guidance.
Overall, I really recommend taking him for the intermediate accounting series. His teaching helps you build a strong foundation in accounting, and he is always approachable if you have any questions along the way.
Professor Lu is amazing. He is extremely passionate about teaching and his students greatly benefit as a result. While this is a very challenging course - one of the hardest courses in the accounting minor - he accommodates his students in any way he can through things like access to TAs, office hours, fair exams, and extensive career advice. I am very grateful for my experience with Professor Lu as I have gained an invaluable set of accounting skills and am now on an excellent career path due to his teaching and much of his advice. I highly recommend this class to anyone as the professor truly cares about his students. I wish I could take him for all of my classes here at UCLA!
This is my first review, but I felt that Professor Lu deserved one. He is by far the best professor I have had here at UCLA. He makes an incredible effort to connect with his students to be a resource for both their academic and career goals. He is extremely generous with his time and is willing to accommodate all of his students' requests for extra help with course material or questions about their career. While this course is challenging and requires a good amount of effort, anyone can get an A. His exams are very straightforward and never have any curveball questions - he isn't trying to trick you, just teach you! Overall, I will say that Professor Lu really wants to see his students succeed both inside and outside of the classroom, and as such, he gives his students the platform to succeed in the course and prepare for an amazing career following graduation.
Professor Lu is one of the best professors I’ve had at UCLA. He is extremely clear in his lectures and is very helpful outside of class time - he wants each and every one of his students to do well in his class and he demonstrates just that. Contrary to what people say, the class is not hard at all. Everything that is tested is in his notes - he tells you exactly what’s gonna be tested and it’s just up to you if you put the effort into studying or not. All it takes is a few hours a week, and you will do just fine. I highly recommend anyone takes his class.
Professor Lu is one of the best professors I have had at UCLA. He takes the time to get to know each student and really cares about his students. His class is extremely clear and he even adds some funny jokes into his lecture. His midterm and final is extremely fair. I would recommend studying his notes to do well in his class. He has optional textbook problems but they are not mandatory. I would definitely take the class with professor Lu again and if you can take it with him!!

The class is relatively straight forward and his class has one midterm and final. I would recommend studying his notes to do well in his class. There are textbook homework problems to help with the class but they are not mandatory. I would definitely recommend this class and definitely take the class with him if you can!
Professor Lu is definitely one of the best accounting professors I have taken at UCLA. I would definitely recommend taking his class if you can and would take his class again. There are textbook homework problems but they are not mandatory. Professor Lu's notes are extremely clear and explains the material in depth. There is one midterm and final that were extremely fair. I would recommend studying his notes extremely well to do well on the midterm and final. Professor Lu really cares about his students and makes sure he takes the time to get to know every single student and has pretty funny jokes he throws into his lectures to help you remember the material. Definitely take 120 A with him if you can!
Professor Lu is one of the best professors at UCLA. You can tell he cares for his students and you'll actually learn in this class. He's always willing to help if there's any questions, and is great at giving advice career-wise. Although the content is a lot he provides very detailed notes and emphasizes what is important for his exams and the CPA. Anything in his notes is fair game for his tests so you just have to practice the examples on there and you'll be fine. To avoid having to go over all the pages of notes for the final, I recommend making flashcards on them as you go its just a matter of putting in the time and effort.
