Super kind woman. The whole class is basically the final (50%), midterm, one project, and section participation. Excel project and participation is an easy 100. Midterm is online, but really study for the final. She doesn't throw curveballs and everything is very straightforward but it's easy to slip as there's no homework and lecture is pretty useless. If you want to succeed, read the textbook and do the practice multiple choice questions.
Strengths: I believe that the instructor did a good job explaining complicated topics, and dumbing it down for us.
Weaknesses: there wasn't many opportunities to actually practice what we learned in class, and the reading was pretty useless. i wish there was homework and no reading
The instructor made sure to cover every portion and topic that was covered and discussed throughout the class. The exams tend to be tricky, but are straight forward. However, it does take a lot more studying than expected for this class, especially since for 4 straight weeks the only interaction you get with the class is just lectures, would recommend the teacher since the resources are there. Strengths: resources, punctual, knowledgable Weakness: boring, class itself, little revision
I have enjoyed this class so far as it is engaging and the professor really cares about the understanding of her students. The class goes pretty slow for a college course as it is only an introduction to Microeconomics. The readings assigned are a little confusing as to the dates it is due, but none of the readings are mandatory, although they help reinforce the ideas learned in class. The class usually gets out early as well which is really nice. The excel project is also a little confusing, but no experience in excel is needed and you will figure it out. Professor Olivia is also very sweet and seems like she loves what she does.
I took Olivia over the Summer for Econ 1 and I was pleasantly surprised by her class, especially given the other reviews that are there on Bruinwalk. I felt like she was super caring and explained the material quite well. Thankfully, Econ 1 is pretty straightforward in terms of material, so as long as you keep up with the slides and understand how to apply the concepts you'll be fine. The graded assignments consisted of weekly quizzes, a report, course evaluation, and final exam. The open-note quizzes and final felt very fair and, if you understood the material and her slides, then you could easily get an A. She did mess up some of the questions on the first quiz because they included material we didn't really know yet, but she was super responsive and gave us extra points on the quiz to compensate for the mistake. She was always really nice in her office hours and taking it over the Summer was actually a great experience because there were a lot less people than there normally would be in an intro class. Overall, I felt like she was a great professor and I would highly recommend taking her for this class.
