Paige Greene was the best! TAKE HER!!! She like a mom and cares about her students a lot. Some people said she goes into too much detail about the easy things, but I think that was good because she doesn't want people making stupid mistakes. Also people may have forgotten the calculus they learn in high school, so she was very helpful in showing you how she got the answer. Again she is the best!!!
Greene is such a kind soul. She recorded lectures. She has 2 methods to her class where one is them is she drops the worst midterm and the other is normal 2 midterms and 1 final I guess since I can't remember. There are weekly homework assignments from the textbook and online quizzes/ helpful work using inclusive access.
I had a really unpleasant time in this class unfortunately, despite having heard glowing things about Professor Greene. I found her to be very unaccommodating and at times unprofessional. She has a very straight line way of teaching - if you don’t get her method she cannot and will not explain it to you any other way. I found it to be really hard to succeed in this class for students who haven’t already taken some version of it in highschool. If you don’t have a strong background in math, don’t take this class!
I am NOT a math person by any means and usually struggle with STEM stuff but I found this class to be pretty easy. If you took calc AB/calc 1 in high school, everything will be review. We started with precalc review, then moved on to limits and derivatives. There were around 9 homework assignments and homework is graded on correctness NOT just completion. There are 5 ish online (mylab) assignments as well (so you need to buy the textbook for sure), and these are also graded on correctness but you get unlimited attempts. Lowest homework grade and mylab grades are dropped. Discussion is mandatory and you get 1 free skip without it affecting your grade. Prof Greene is really sweet and genuinely wants everyone to do well. I went to her office hours and she was really helpful. She also offers different grading schemes, and one of them doesn't count the first midterm at all so if you do poorly on that then you can still do well in the class. For example, I did pretty badly on the first midterm but studied a lot for the second midterm and final and ended up with an A+ in the class. I would recommend reviewing/redoing homework problems and problems that she goes over in lecture to study for the 2 midterms and final. This class is really not bad at all and as long as you go to class most of the time and study properly you should be totally fine.
I had taken this professor before and absolutely loved her. I took 3C with her and it was the best choice I could have made. She was super helpful and genuinely cared if we understood the concepts. She offered office hours every end of class and would schedule it for others days if you needed it. She gave us the practice midterm which was very similar to the actual exams. The hw consisted of maybe 10 problems tops that did take some time but that's calculus for you.
Grade consisted of both midterms and finals and the homework and online hw. It was clear and if you needed help, Professor Greene was always available. She made it more pleasant to learn.
