Grade: A-

This was a hard class. I failed the first midterm, but got it dropped. Got a B on the second midterm. Then a B+ on the final which was worth higher because I dropped my 1st midterm. I ended up with an A-, I would study for the midterms and final the week of and catch up on all the lecture that week too. It was rough, but just make sure to really review the study guide and know the techniques and memorize formulas. She taught well but my TA Hagen was TERRIBLE.

Professor Greene is such a sweetheart and you can tell that she wants everyone in her class to do well and pass. Math is my least favorite and worst subject. I had failed Math31A once and I was scared for this course but Greene is super understanding and I ended up doing better than I thought I would. She does give really good study guides for the midterms but they could still be really challenging if you do not understand the concepts. Personally I did really poorly on my second midterm but thankfully she does give you the option to drop one midterm (there are 2 worth 20%) and make the final go from 20% to 40%. The final was significantly easier than both of the midterms on my opinion. She also does curve grades at the end by a lot or so she did to me. The homework is a lot though. Not only do you have regular homework from the textbook but you also have questions on a platform named achieve. Homework is graded based on a few randomly selected questions but you also get to drop your lowest 2 scores. Overall, this class is not as bad for being a Math 31B course. Definitely recommend.

Professor Greene is very nice, and quite accommodating, especially given the class size. The first midterm was quite challenging, especially with the time limit (50 minutes). In all honesty, I rarely went to class, but having taken AP Calc BC (did not test out) it was quite easy to get a good grade. But some classmates with no previous coverage of the material has a more difficult time, but Professor Greene offers many opportunities for additional help. She isn't always the most engaging lecturer, but she explains things clearly and slowly and genuinely cares about her students. She did forget to put in a couple of my grades, but is very quick with email responses

Took this class Spring 2022 with Greene. Usually, Math 31B courses cover up to the Taylor series, but Greene is disorganized. She would often go over the same material in different lectures or the lecture a week later, just because people had questions with her teaching. She's a great lecturer in my opinion, but I can see where people can get confused. Her notes are disorganized though (maybe because I took Conley last quarter and he was super organized). So because of that, there were a lot of lectures where it we learned the same material and those built up, so we didn't have enough time at the end of the quarter to fully learn all the series tests. Overall, her exams weren't difficult if you put in the time to study. For this class, I received a 90 for midterm1, 100 for midterm 2, and 100 for the final. My study tip is before the exam, practice hw questions and past exams she gives you (but make sure you can do it in time)! First midterm the average was an F because of the time crunch, so be wary. But she made the 2nd midterm and final super easy.
Honestly, this class gave a sizable amount of homework which was annoying, because not only was there achieve but there would be written hw you had to do. It's not too time consuming if you knew what to do though, but I definitely needed that time for other classes.
Overall, I would recommend her class!

This class is an easy A due to Greene's generous grading policies. I would highly recommend it. At first I was scared to take math 31B since I'd heard it's a difficult class but with Greene it wasn't.

Lectures were in-person and recorded. Greene didn't use slides. She drew out a lot of examples on the board. I found the examples to be highly relevant for the homeworks and exams. Attendance wasn't mandatory, so I preferred to watch the recordings since Greene talks slowly. I think she explained the concepts pretty well. I didn't need to use outside resources to understand the content.

Each week there was one written homework assignment and most weeks there was also one online Achieve assignment. The homework problems were a bit harder than the in-class examples but pretty doable. The lowest two written homeworks get dropped.

Discussion was mandatory. The TA's began taking attendance in week 2 and we got two excused absences, which was great. The discussion worksheets were good preparation for the tests.

The first midterm was quite tough and the class average was 59%. Greene refused to curve, saying we had failed because we didn't attend lecture/discussion, which just wasn't true. However, I think she realized the first midterm was too hard because she made the next midterm and the final much easier. Greene's tests are pretty simple and straightforward. Most of the questions are on a similar level of difficulty as the in-class examples and homeworks. There aren't any trick questions or complicated things like proofs. With the exception of the first midterm, the time given was plenty and I didn't feel rushed at all.

There were two grading schemes -- in the first, each of the three exams would account for 20% of the grade, and in the second, the lowest midterm would be dropped, the other midterm would account for 20%, and the final 40%. So there's some flexibility if you don't do well on a midterm. Moreover, you only need 90% overall to get an A in this class, which is wonderful.

The overall time commitment for this class was quite reasonable. I only needed to set aside one day of the week to work on it, including watching the lectures and doing the homework. Overall, I'd highly recommend this class!

This class can be difficult; it sure was for me. Definitely review a lot and go to her OH. She has two grading schemes: one where she keeps both midterm grades, one where she drops a midterm if it's low. She is very generous with Achieve and written HW grades -- take it from me, I got an F on the first midterm, a B- on the second midterm, and an F on the final but was somehow able to finesse a B overall. You can miss up to two discussions, lecture attendance isn't taken. Make sure to review a ton.

The only people who say that Paige Greene isn't a good professor are the people who never go to lecture or do their homework and expect to get an A. Paige spends time making sure that students understand topics rather than trying to teach as many topics as possible. Her exams are a lot like the practice exams she gives. She's really sweet and her office hours are very helpful, and she is very generous with her grading. You might not get through all the topics that Math 31B should cover, but it is definitely a good class for a fairly easy A.
