Professor Verches is an AWESOME professor!!! Very knowledgeable and he really takes the time to help his students. Although he works for the city of los angles, he still does everything he can to be avalible for his students. He is EXTREMELLY knowledgeable on the subjects he teaches and does a wonderful job in actually making you feel like a student and not like another number (like you may have often times felt in other classes). Great professor! Highly recommend him! if you do, go to his office hours and get to know him better! :) ohh the only thing is that his classes are usually tues, thurs at 8am in public policy- ouch! and his final paper for our class ended up being like 35 pages! They truly were not tough or dreadful though! GREAT PROFESSOR!
Verches was a cool professor. Good dialect in his class, and its easy to voice ones opinion. The class though is not very structured. we didnt have our midterm until week 7 and not that it wasnt easy to do, but it was a challenge. Verches class was fun, especially during the mock trials. It was fun being the supreme court justice! THe final ended up being 12 pages long on the different cases we covered in class. He understands when people miss or are late. He just wants you to show up. Being active and participating really helps a lot. Its a good class and you will learn a lot if you put yourself into it. Also make friends in his class and ask questions. DO study groups they help! One thing i didnt like was that he was hard to reach by email. He cares a lot about his students.
Professor Verches is the best! I am so glad that I decided to take this course in the summer. He is super engaged with his students, and his passion for his students' success really shines. The class was a great introduction into human rights law. (PS he also brings us tamales from East LA occasionally)
