Professor Rojas is so boring!! His lectures are not engaging and he isn't very clear on challenging subjects. His tests are also very hard.

Definitely try to take Econ1 with Rojas if you can! He's a super kind and helpful professor, although a bit dry since all he really does is read off his slides in class. That being said, there's really no harm if you miss a few classes since everything will be on the slides he posts. He gives sample midterms and finals before each exam and he's extremely helpful if you go to his office hours as well. For this quarter we did not have to buy Mindtap which definitely saved a lot of money since I just read a free pdf online, but also made it so that you really need to do well on the midterms and finals (25, 25, and 50% of your grade respectively) because there are no other assignments in the gradebook to bring your grade up. But overall as long as you carefully study the powerpoints and don't fall behind the test are extremely straightforward. Highly recommend this class.

Professor Rojas was an extremely boring lecturer. If you take this class, just review the slides on your own time and don't bother going to class. He lectures painfully slow, and spends much longer than is honestly necessary to learn the content. He also requires that you purchase MindTap.

AVOID ROJAS AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!! HORRIBLE BUT HORRIBLE LECTURER, HUMAN BEING (and class)... Every exam keeps getting harder and harder and the final is 70 QUESTIONS LONG...
However if you DO have to take it and rojas is your only choice then BUY mindtap even if its not required. Midtap has a lot of multiple choice questions per chapter (like over 100 questions) and you can use them to practice for the exams.
He used to make mindtap mandatory but now its not so really buy it and practice practice practice EVERYTHING!!!
His final IS CUMULATIVE so beware and practice a lot especially the 2nd half material!!!

Quarter: Winter 2016

Professor Rojas was approachable enough and had a friendly demeanor. This class is definitely the easiest out of all the Econ/Bus Econ prereqs; It's mostly just memorization and regurgitating the info back onto the exams. The exams are pretty easy and all multiple choice, with a lot of graphs. I found the textbook way more helpful than the lecture slides, and mostly studied by outlining the book.

Econ 1 with Professor Rojas is a tough but fair class. You can do well without reading the textbook, however, you need the MindTap access code that's included with the textbook to complete the homework, and many homework questions come directly from the textbook reading. The homework is online multiple choice, and you get two tries, and also one check for correctness for each question, so it's hard to not do well. Professor Rojas's lectures are straightforward, and he encourages questions, although he does move fast. The two midterms are easy, but the cumulative final is significantly harder. Overall, an A is attainable if you take time to thoroughly do the homeworks, and study for the midterms and final.

Rojas is a great professor. He really cares about his students well being and if they understand the content. He taught straight from slides and lacked a little clarity towards the end of the course, but it wasn't too bad. Make sure to do his weekly homework and readings on mindtap which will help you understand the material. I didn't go to class week 9 and often was distracted during his lectures but still got an A+. 24/25 on both midterms and a 58/70 on the final. He is a dry lecturer so make sure you stay awake.
