Jewish History Class: 1 midterm and 1 final. Each 50% of your grade. If you do significantly better on the final he will replace your midterm grade. Grading is fair depending on your reader. All exams are essay questions w/ study topics given beforehand. I did none of the readings but just listened and took good notes on lecture and got an A. p.s. he lectures completely during class, no powerpoints or writing on the board

Professor Friedlander is an outstanding lecturer. I genuinely enjoyed going to class and hearing him lecture. He is by far the most interesting person in the history department and I learned very valuable information from him. Too good to be true right?--right! He is amazing but his READERS! OH MY GOODNESS. steer clear from the one with the glasses. When you go discuss your paper with her she talks to you in a condescending manner. HELLO! im coming to you for help, get off your high horse and stop talking down to me! and not only that even if you have all the information and your clearly answering the question its not "good enough"... take him and pray he hired OTHER readers.

I did not enjoy this class at all, and it was below my expectations. Friedlander's lectures were dry, monotonous, and difficult to understand (probably because of the heavy accent). It was one of the worst history classes I have ever taken. It is also confusing,and the text is dense too. Also, I wanted to ask for a regrade of my essay exams, at least to talk it over with him, but he said I had to contact my reader (who had graded it). Friedlander did not have the reader's contact info, so when finally got it from the department, I emailed his reader, and HE NEVER RESPONDED!!! I felt I did not have adequate support for even stuff liket hat.
