Dr. Gillespie is awsome! He loves what he does (which makes the learning environment very productive for students)...clear lectures, funny, keeps your attention, very approachable...definitely take a class with him if you can!

Dr. G is AWESOME.. but please please make sure you attend the labs because they're worth a whole chunk of ur grade (I found out the hard way as I got a low grade due to missing half of those damn friday 9AM labs), and attend the lecture because Gillespie is simply one of the best lecturers that I've come across. Take this class! attend all the labs, do all the work, take good notes during lectures, study them before midterm and final, and u'll do fine.

JUST TAKE ANYTHING TAUGHT BY THIS MAN. He is not only funny and entertaining but the things he teaches can be used in real life AND you won't forget it. Great professor.

TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I took it because it got good reviews but I actually learned a lot in his class and thoroughly enjoyed it! GILLESPIE IS THE BEST TEACHER AT UCLA! I actually looked forward to his class at 9:30 AM. He is SOOO FUNNY and very very entertaining. He's very cool and I know anyone who didnt like his class or didnt like him. The class and labs are very, very easy. Someone finished the final in 10 mins! He genuinely cares about the enviornment and his students. He gives out review sheets for everything you need to know for the midterm and final--so you know what you need to do to do well. He will help you in any way he can. Just email him or visit his office hours! You won't regret taking this class. I dont know how to write a better review! If you dont take a class of his-u are missing out!

Not only is this class an extremely easy A, it's really fun and informative. Prof. Gillespie is hilarious and an awesome teacher.

All I can say is WOW! This class was by far the easiest way to fulfill my life science requirement for the school of engineering. The midterm was easy, but graded hard, and the final... please I along with the rest of the class finished in like 20 minutes. Although this class was exteremely easy, it was also interesting. To tell you the truth I couldn't really give a crap about the enviroment, but I had fun in Gillespie's class. He made me actually want to go to lecture, and I learned lots of interesting facts. The only downfall for this class is that the lab is a little tedious and boring even though I had a good TA. I would definetly say take gillespie if you have a chance... lots of fun and an easy A

Exellent professor, excellent class. Gillespie is extremely concerned about his students and his lectures are never boring. With his labs, you actually learn stuff that is useful and will probably stay with you in the long run. My TA was excellent as well. If you're even remotely interested in an environmental perspective in geography, take this class! Even if you aren't, I guarantee you will love it.

geo 5 with gillespie was pretty interesting and not hard at all. make sure you go to all the lecture tho cuz the midterm and final are based heavily on the info he gives in class. also the review sheet that is handed out before each test is VERY helpful. the only problem i had with this class were the TAs for lab. they were very tough on grading the midterm and the average grade was a C. i talked to prof gillespie afterwards and he was so cool about it and i ended up getting a few points back.

he's very easygoing and fun. easily one of the better profs here at UCLA. if u can, take this class with him, he will keep you interested!
