Best professor I've had in engineering. Clites really understand what it means to be an engineering student. His lectures are very helpful. It is obvious he spends a lot of time crafting his homeworks and exams around helping the student learn. Most of all, he is extremely caring and an awesome guy to talk to. Definitely recommend!
Professor was amazing. Actually cares about you. Did a hell of a job teaching the concepts of each topic while also providing step by step instructions for each method. Ideal teaching method I would say. Also did an amazing job incorporating real life examples into the subject and not just doing theoretical and contrived math. Only downside is that the subject itself is a bit tough but the person teaching it does a great job lecturing. 10 out of 10 would recommend
Something initially felt off about him having a perfect 5.0 rating, but after taking the class, I completely understand. He presents class material perfectly so that lectures are all you need for homework problems. He genuinely cares about every student, and you can tell by the way he speaks or writes to you individually. Some of the MATLAB assignments are very challenging, but he is committed to helping you learn, and is readily willing to grant extensions if it will give you time to better understand the material. I've heard horror stories of other professors teaching this class, so if Clites is an option, take him!!
I can't suggest this enough. As you can probably see, Professor Clites is very understanding and willing to work around your own personal issues and stuff. Super friendly guy. The homework is hard! Don't put it off until the last day because it takes a long time, and WORK WITH OTHERS. It helps a lot. The homework is fantastic prep for the exams and relatively the same in difficulty. Open note midterm. Usually 3 questions with multiple parts. Pretty fair honestly. A lot of MATLAB, and taking M20 concurrently honestly does not help much, knowing MATLAB a little or knowing nothing doesn't change a lot, but you can and will figure it out with his help or the help of his peers. Quizzes will be easy enough if you paid attention I think, they're intended to be basic. Final is as hard as you make it but can end up taking a while (I think I took about 3.5 hours?), but it is take home so that is cool.
You're not going to get a better practical, educational, but pretty easy but still rigorous class which is the sweet spot for most people (I enjoy easy things but even then I suggest this professor 100%)
