I REALLY ENJOYED MY APARTMENT WITH MY FRIENDS THIS YEAR, AND I GOT MATCHED INTO AN APARTMENT. MY ROOMMATES WERE QUIET, FRIENDLY. NICE, AND NOW WERE LIKE THE BEST OF FRIENDS .THANK YOU.. HOUSING COMPANY FOR MAKING COLLEGE LIFE EASIER WITH GOOD HOUSEMATES AND GOOD FURNITURE AND A GREAT PLACE!
I AM SO SORRY!!!
HI THIS IS DEEDI I WROTE TWO BAD REVIEWS ABOUT YOU GUYS AND THE COMPANY, AND I TRIED TO TAKE IT DOWN BUT THEY WONT LET ME. I APOLOGIZE FOR BEING UPSET ABOUT BREAKING MY LEASE EARLY AND NOT FINDING A SUBTENANT.. I WROTE THE BAD REVIEWS AND I WAS IN A FIT OF RAGE FROM NEEDING TO LEAVE EARLY DUE TO MCATS AND FAMILY ARRIVING FROM CHINA.... PLEASE FORGIVE.
I'm the real Dee-Di. THIS RIDICULOUS UCLA STUDENT HOUSING LLC IS EVEN USING MY NAME WRITING FAKE COMMENTS. And they even wrote three things wrong. First, I did not breach the lease since I already found a subletter, covering $1100 which is a lot for the subletter, Second, I only wrote one review, they say that I wrote two??? Third, I don't have any relatives from China, I am from Taiwan. By seeing this housing company even writing fake reviews can prove that they are really unprofessional, like what the other reviews said, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM ANY SPOT RENT BY UCLA STUDENT HOUSING LLC.
PLEASE, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM ANY SPOT RENT BY UCLA STUDENT HOUSING LLC, an independent company unaffiliated with UCLA the school itself. When I moved in last September, the place was extremely dusty and I was bitten by flees for the first two weeks. On mid September, the electricity was off in my unit because that the management forgot to re-apply the electricity, I had to stay in the darkness for three nights and crying that my food was going bad. A few days later, there happened flooding and we have to move out to their another spot, increasing $100 for our rent. However, without notifying us, they even changed our lease term from June to August, causing me to suffer the pressure to find a subletter. They required subletters to pay $600 deposit and $50 inspection fee, which is super super high. I covered one third of the rent for the subletters but still many of them were driven away due to the high requirement by the company. The company continuing threatening to sue me because I can't find my subletter. I had to spend time arguing with the management through email and phone, spending lots of time for showing before my MPRE test which I ended up failing the test, feeling that I'm totally an idiot. We found out that there were mice in our unit but the just blame us that we are dirty and do nothing. We notified the management that our sink in the bathroom need fixed many times since last year, but the maintenance finally came a few weeks ago. I finally found a subletter, losing about $1100 for covering for the subletter and have to sleep on couch at my relatives place for the whole June just to get away from this awful management. And now they are even telling different statements between me and my subletter, confusing my subletter and make her discomfort, and they just say that it was my fault and I should do everything to fulfill my subletter's need. What's worse, they are not willing to refund my deposit. Choosing UCLA student housing llc is the worst decision I've ever made in my whole life, losing my money and time, failing the exam and suffering emotional distress.
PLEASE!!!! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!!!! The landlord/management is an awful person. She may seem nice at first encounter, but she is very arbitrary and capricious. If you sign the contract and if she knows that your parents are around, it is likely that be nicer to you (compared to how she treat your roommates/neighbors). I assume this happens because she is aware that her behaviors are unprofessional and are likely to get her involved in lawsuits.
The maintenance is horrible. Although our apartment is "fully furnished", no one ever comes and fixes broken things in our apartment. As for the common area, the building has five washers, but in most cases, only two of them are working. Also, the elevators are probably older than most college students, and they are not well-maintained.
When we first moved into the apartment, the place is very, very dirty. A ridiculous part of my experience living here is the "cleanness inspection." The contract says that "cleaning inspections are more subject to happening if housemates submit a complaint and [these inspections] are in place to protect tenants from an unsanitary environment." None of my roommates has ever filed such a complaint (and nor did I), but the representative conducts such inspection for quite a few times, just to make sure that the apartment looks nicer when she show it to prospective tenants. She has very high standards, like CLEANED dishes should not be placed on the top of counters, and she said we would be charged a "cleaning fee" if we do not comply. This is just ridiculous.
I am so fed up with this place, and so let me tell you more. If you friends recommend this place to you, then the chance is that they want to make money out of you and that they are not your "friends." Let me tell you what happened. The leasing representative sent all tenants an email, in January, saying that if we could refer someone to sign the contract, we would get paid. More specifically, the email says that "for each single long term (year) tenant you send us that signs up and we accept you receive $100.00 value. For each group of 4 you receive $250.00." I am not saying that no current tenant would recommend this place wholeheartedly, but please be mindful when people tell you how great this place is.
Choosing to live in 516 Glenrock Ave is clearly the worst decision I've ever made during my time at UCLA. I am not saying that you will absolutely not enjoy living here, but please think twice (maybe more than twice) before you sign the contract.
You can clearly tell the reviews are falsely submitted for this building. How does any apartment listing have 10 reviews in one day on April 9th? Reviews do not show accurate depiction of the apartment complex. For one, there are constantly broken laundry mat, the pool is never cleaned, the elevators half the time are broken, and the overall upkeep of the apartment is shotty. At first glance yes, the rooms are a bit spacious, but open closer inspection there are cracks, leaks, hair in the drain from past tenants, chipping paint from the cabinets, etc. The maintenance is also unreliable. Managers will insist maintenance will come but to no success. When you read the reviews, try and sort the dishonest ones from the real ones. No one is that excited/grateful to post a housing review unless there's something in it for them.
Thank you UCLA Student housing for giving me the best place. I was really late in pre-leasing and they were able to pull a place for me. I am truly grateful.. Things went smoothly the entire time, maintenance was fast, clean apartment, very large! and so close to target, resturants, and everything. I had no issue walking the block and half to school great place grateful!
What I really loved, is when I was searching for a place, they showed me like five buildings, I was completely exhausted from looking, however I knew I made the best choice for what I was looking for. I had three housemates, and was really nervous because I didn't have my fourth but the company gave me more time to find a fourth which I thought was really nice so I didn't lose the place. Deposit was low, signing up was easy and they were still there for me after I moved in which I appreciated so much. The maintenance was really fast with UCLA Student Housing, cant say the same for the rest of glenrock, but my place was clean, huge, upgraded, and furnished... its not their best complex but it is their best priced so I chose it and was happy I did, also Huge patios!
